10 Years Ago Today Apple Launched The iPhone And It Changed Everything
On June 29, 2007, Apple finally released the original iPhone, six months after Steve Jobs announced it and many more months after the rumors of an Apple-made smartphone first began to circulate.
The device was introduced as being akin to the iPod in 2001 and the Macintosh in 1984 in that it would revolutionize the mobile phone industry.
Few knew the iPhone would turn into the billion selling smartphone we have today.
Curtis says that he believes the iPhone 8 will use the same CYPD2104 chip used in the new 10.5-inch iPad Pro, with the Power Delivery chip built into the phone and the power brick being built by Cypress Semiconductor.
iPhone 8 To Come With 10W USB-C Charger With Power Delivery Chip For Fast Charging
The suggestion that the iPhone 8 will come with a Lightning to USB-C connector began to circulate when analyst Ming-Chi Kuo of KGI Securities made the claim earlier this year, with the belief being that it would enable faster charging on the new device.
The latest analyst to pile in is Barclays’ Blayne Curtis who believes that a 10w charging brick will provide the juice with a Lightning to USB-C cable and new USB-C Power Delivery chip used to get that juice to where it needs to go as quickly as possible.
New Charging Sound Discovery In iOS 11 Points To Wireless Charing Coming To iPhone 8
A new sound file has been discovered in iOS 11 which could potentially be used when a future iPhone is placed on charge via inductive wireless charging, as has been heavily rumored for the iPhone 8.
Apple’s iPhone 8 has been rumored to include wireless charging for a long time now, and it is very much possible that the company would want to use a different charging sound to indicate to users that their device is receiving power when placed on a charging pad.
This sound while certainly very different to the normal charging chime does invoke the same kind of response, and would without doubt work as an indication that charging has begun.
